Description & Structure of Workshop

Our Art, Hope & Healing Worshop is a four session art therapy workshop providing participants with a safe space to be heard and witnessed in thier grief, and providing them with the opportunity to explore their grief/pain and conceptualize healing, through artistic expression with paint or clay.

This four part art therapy workshop with a group meeting within each of the four parts structured to include:

- a check-in intervention segment
- the pain and healing paint or clay work segment
- a tea/coffee break
- a processing and consolidation segment

About The Therapeutic Art Component

Paint is a fluid material and allows for more emotionality in the expressive process; therefore, providing participants with opportunities for externalization and release of emotion in the art. Alternatively, clay is both a fluid and resistive material, allowing for emotional release through its malleability and the energy that goes into manipulating it.

Grief has many components, including anger, sadness, confusion, and anxiety; the clay allows the energy that is stored in the body due to these emotions to be let out and to be put into the clay or paint itself through creation.

Workshop Benefits:
1) Participants will experience activities that encourage a kinesthetic release and sensory engagement.
2) Participants will have the opportunity to explore and process grief/pain as they release energy/emotion through expressive art activities.
3) Sessions will provide a space for free self expression while offering the opportunity for deep reflection.
4) Sessions will provide an opportunity for participants to develop a way to intentionally honor and build a new type of relationship moving forward with their lost loved one.
5) This group workshop programme will provide relatability and a small and safe supportive community for healing.
